The Cliff · Location & getting there

Where The Cliff Resort is in Mui Ne — and how to get there from Saigon

The Cliff Resort & Residences is on Nguyen Dinh Chieu, the coast road at Phu Hai, about 8–10 km east of Phan Thiet centre and 6 km before the Ham Tien strip, roughly 180 km and 3–3.5 hours by road from Ho Chi Minh City. The address changed in July 2025 to Phu Thuy Ward, Lam Dong, but the gate has not moved. There is no airport nearby yet, and from the resort you get around by Grab or taxi rather than on foot.

Getting to The Cliff, three ways

Expressway running through dry coastal hills under a clear sky

Saigon to the resort · 3–3.5 hours

By private car or the hotel transfer

The Dau Giay–Phan Thiet expressway carries you most of the way; the last stretch follows the coast road east of Phan Thiet. The expressway has been tolled electronically since March 2026. The hotel car was listed at about VND 3,700,000 per vehicle one way in October 2026, booked 72 hours ahead; private transfer companies quoted roughly VND 1.2–2.5 million depending on the car.

Choose it if you are a family with luggage, or you land in the afternoon and want to arrive before dark. Skip it if you are travelling alone on a budget — the bus does the same trip for a fraction of the cost.

Saigon to Phan Thiet · about 4–6 hours

By sleeper bus or train

Sleeper and seated buses leave Ho Chi Minh City for Phan Thiet and Mui Ne several times a day, at about VND 180,000–280,000 in 2026; most stop on the Ham Tien strip, so ask whether the driver will drop you at the resort. The direct train reaches Phan Thiet station in about 4 hours, then it is a 20-minute taxi; from September to December 2026 it runs Friday to Sunday only.

Choose it if you like the idea of arriving without a car, or you are on a budget. Skip it if you have small children and lots of bags — transfers add up.

Getting around: Grab, taxis and the front desk

Grab cars work here, but there are fewer of them than in Saigon, and waits of 5–15 minutes are common after about 9 pm. The front desk will call a metered taxi. We found no scheduled shuttle to Mui Ne or Phan Thiet; ask the hotel if one is running during your stay.

Good to know you plan short trips to the strip, the towers or Fairy Stream. Not ideal if you hoped to walk out to dinner — the road has no pavement for long stretches.

Getting there and around without hassle

01

Book the car before you fly

The hotel transfer needs 72 hours’ notice. If you prefer a private company, book ahead too: cars are scarcer on Friday evenings and in holidays.

02

Give the old and new address

Show drivers “The Cliff Resort, Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Phu Hai”. Since July 2025 the ward is Phu Thuy, Lam Dong, but many still use Phu Hai, Phan Thiet.

03

Arrange the ride home from dinner

After about 9 pm Grab waits get longer. Ask your restaurant on the strip to call a taxi, or agree a pick-up time with the driver who brought you.

Honest note

The Cliff is not in the middle of Mui Ne. The restaurant strip is 6 km away, much of the road has no pavement, and there is no airport within an hour yet. If you want to stroll out for dinner every night, stay in Ham Tien instead.

Questions about getting to The Cliff

How long is the drive from Tan Son Nhat Airport to The Cliff?

Allow 3 to 3.5 hours for about 180 km. Most of it is on the Dau Giay–Phan Thiet expressway, which opened in 2023 and cut the old journey of five hours or more. Leaving Saigon at rush hour, roughly 4–7 pm on weekdays, can add 45 minutes or more before you reach the expressway.

Is Phan Thiet Airport open, and will it make The Cliff easier to reach?

Not yet. Construction of the civil terminal began on 27 April 2026, with opening targeted for 2027. When it opens it will be the closest airport to the resort by a long way, but until then plan on Ho Chi Minh City. We will update this page when flights begin.

Is Long Thanh Airport closer to The Cliff than Tan Son Nhat?

Yes, by around 35–40 km. Long Thanh lies east of Ho Chi Minh City, about 143 km from the resort, so you skip Saigon’s traffic entirely. Commercial flights were proposed to start on 1 December 2026; check which airlines and routes are actually operating before you book flights around it.

Can I fly into Cam Ranh (Nha Trang) for The Cliff instead?

You can, but it is a long road trip: Cam Ranh is roughly 200 km north-east of the resort, around 3.5 to 4 hours by car on the coastal expressway. It makes sense mainly if you are combining Nha Trang with Mui Ne, or if flights into Cam Ranh are much cheaper for your dates. Saigon remains the practical gateway for most visitors.

How do I get from The Cliff to the sand dunes?

Most guests book a jeep tour that collects them from the resort, often before dawn for sunrise at the White Sand Dunes about 43 km away, with stops at the Red Sand Dunes and Fairy Stream on the way back. A private car is the other option. The Red Dunes alone are about 25 minutes by Grab or taxi.

Can I hire a motorbike at The Cliff?

The hotel does not list motorbike rental, but rental shops operate along the coast road and on the Ham Tien strip. In Vietnam you need a valid licence for the bike’s class and travel insurance that covers riding; many policies do not. Bicycles are available at the resort and are usually free.
