The Cliff Resort Mui Ne: check-in times, deposit, children and house rules

Check-in at The Cliff is from 3 pm and check-out by 12 noon; a card or cash deposit is taken on arrival, the main guest must be 18, and durian, jackfruit, smoking and pets are not allowed. Several details differ between sources — free-child age limits, cots and festive surcharges among them. Where they do, we say so, and the safe move is to confirm with the hotel when you book.

The rules that surprise guests

At check-in

Deposit, passport and payment

Reception takes an incidental deposit by card or in cash and returns it after check-out to the method you used; card holds can take up to about two weeks to clear. You will be asked for your passport so the hotel can register your stay with the local police, as required in Vietnam.

Plan for it if you have a credit card with some headroom for the hold. Watch out if you only carry a debit card with a tight balance — bring some cash instead.

In your room

Durian, seafood and the cleaning fee

Durian and jackfruit are banned because of their smell. If you bring in seafood or alcohol to eat or drink in your room, a cleaning charge applies — listed at VND 300,000 for Terra units and VND 600,000 for villas. Minibar items are charged.

Fine if you plan to cook simple meals in an apartment kitchen. Watch out if you hoped for a seafood feast on your terrace — budget for the fee or eat out.

Travelling with children

Child ages, extra beds and cots

The hotel’s own pages count children under 4 as free when sharing existing beds; other listings say under 5 or under 11, and breakfast for older children is charged. Extra beds are available; cots are listed as free by some sites and unavailable by others.

Fine if you confirm child ages and cots in writing when you book. Watch out if you assume every rate treats children the same way — they do not.

Before you arrive at The Cliff

01

Put requests in the booking itself

Cots, extra beds, a low-level room or early check-in are all on request. Add them to the reservation, then email the hotel to confirm.

02

Expect festive extras

Over Christmas, New Year and Tet, tour operators report minimum stays and festive surcharges. Check the rate conditions for those weeks.

03

Carry some dong

Cards work at the resort, but taxis, street food, the dunes and Fairy Stream are mostly cash. ATMs are easiest in Phan Thiet and Ham Tien.

Honest note

Sources disagree on several policies, from the free-child age to whether cots are available and whether there is a lift. We list what each says rather than guess. If a detail would change your booking, get the hotel’s answer in writing first.

Policy questions about The Cliff

Can I check in at The Cliff early if I arrive from Saigon in the morning?

Possibly, but it is never guaranteed. Early check-in depends on how full the resort is and may carry a fee. If you arrive before 3 pm, the front desk can usually store your bags and you can use the pools and beach while you wait. For a guaranteed early room, some guests book the night before.

Is there a compulsory gala dinner at The Cliff at Christmas or New Year?

The hotel does not publish a compulsory gala dinner on its own pages, but European tour operators mention a festive-period surcharge and minimum stays over Christmas and in February. The resort also sells tickets to its own festive events. Read the rate conditions for late December and the Tet weeks before you book.

Does The Cliff charge for the airport or station transfer?

Yes. The airport transfer is a paid private car, listed at about VND 3,700,000 per vehicle one way for up to five people in October 2026, with 72 hours’ notice. A transfer from Phan Thiet railway station is also offered for a fee. Confirm the current price with the hotel before you travel.

What happens if I need to cancel my booking at The Cliff?

Your cancellation terms are set by the rate you choose, and they are shown next to each price on the booking page. Refundable rates usually cost a little more than non-refundable ones. To cancel or change dates, use the booking platform you reserved through or contact the hotel; this guide cannot change bookings.

Do I need to show my passport at The Cliff?

Yes. Vietnamese law requires hotels to report each foreign guest to the local police, so reception will ask for your passport at check-in, usually to scan or copy it. They should hand it straight back. Vietnamese guests show their ID card instead.

Are there quiet hours at The Cliff?

The hotel does not publish formal quiet hours, but the resort is calm at night and most guests describe it as peaceful. Noise complaints usually concern road traffic near the Verde apartments or neighbours in the bungalows rather than parties. If you are sensitive to sound, ask for a room away from the road when you book.
